OUR STORY
A Humble Start…
For as long as I can remember I have had the talent to create anything with my hands. God gave me many talents of which I am thankful for, but ashamed to say I have spent most of my life squandering my talents away. I spent a lot of time dreaming about having my own business, but like a lot of others never followed through.
I was let go from a job, where I was a member of the Command Staff at a County Jail. God definitely closes doors when He has you right where He intended you to be. By being home I was the first to detect changes in my mama, which led to finding out that she has Dementia…I will just tell you that is one of the ugliest words in the English language. But God needed me home with her, after 6 years of struggling to make ends meet God quietly reminded me that He intended for me to use the talents He had given me to provide for us…so Driftwood and Shine was born! God not only has me where He planted me, but He made it, after 59 years, necessary for me to use the talents He gave me to help with the household expenses! Our God is an AWESOME GOD!
The name, Driftwood and Shine, came from me being the older partner like a piece of driftwood that has endured and is beautiful and from Sunshine being the younger partner that shines just like her name says!!! Our company name represents us in written form!!!
We started Driftwood and Shine as an outlet to pass the time because I was a 24/7 caregiver to my mama, who had dementia. My mama took her last breath here on Earth on September 1, 2020, and is now with her Lord and Savior in Heaven. We dedicated out whole business to God for His Glory and we have a devotion every day to point people to Him. God is our reason for being.
We are 2 generations sharing the talents that our Lord and Savior blessed us with. We do LIVE devotions everyday at 09:30 am est and LIVE crafting tutorials on Facebook, I also do pre-recorded videos of me cooking my heart out and share them on Cooking With Driftwood and Shine and Sunni has the Driftwood and Shine Boutique.
We have a group page on Facebook that is called Driftwood and Shine Tribe, that is just for our followers that want to have a closer relationship with each other. The group is for them to share their life, loves, successes and failures with each other. We have a prayer list that is prayed over daily and is kept up to date by one of our followers, Christie Davidson, and we are so thankful for her. They also share their crafts with each other.
We also have a group called Crafting At It’s Finest on Facebook where we, along with the group members, share only LIVES by crafters. So it is full of crafting videos.
