We are asked a lot about what supplies are needed to start crafting. We put together a list of essential supplies needed for new crafters below.
- White acrylic paint (I prefer chalk paint)
- Black acrylic paint ( Again I prefer chalk paint)
- A pair of good scissors for cutting material
- A pair of so-so scissors for cutting things other than material
- Glue gun and glue sticks (Gorilla glue sticks or Surebonder are my go to glue sticks)
- A pair of needle nose pliers
- At least 3 paint brushes (A large, a medium and a tiny one for lettering)
- Mod Podge (Doesn’t really matter what kind)
- Baby Wipes
- Craft paper (To keep your work area clean)
- Tape
We believe these are essential supplies needed for a new crafter to begin with. With those eleven things on hand you should be able to create a multitude of crafts. We have only given you what we feel like is essential to start crafting. With these supplies you will be able to paint wood and embellishments, cut and glue items together.
You will be able to hot glue products onto your project. With Mod podge you can attach a number of things to your project like fabric and paper. Needle nose pliers gives you the ability to cut wire and you can use the end to hold your small objects while applying hot glue.
Of course there are many other supplies that will be needed to take your hobby to the next level. The unending amount of supplies needed can seem overwhelming, but just take it one project at a time. It won’t be long before you amass a large amount of crafting supplies of your own.
Along with supplies you need practice, patience and tutorials! Before no time at all you will be making beautiful projects to decorate your home, to give to your family and friends or to sell.
We have tons of LIVE tutorials on our Facebook page and we are in the process of ramping up our YouTube with videos.
